   My wife’s new HP Pavilion laptop has bronze colored keys with hard-to-see white lettering, so I ordered this LED lamp to improve the situation. It did, but not as well as I had hoped. The single LED is bright, but the beam is too focused to shed light on the entire keyboard no matter how we position it. Still, it works well enough for the price and I haven’t found a better alternative yet, so I’m giving it 4 stars.

   I have an Asus 1000he and this inexpensive USB LED lamp gives off just enough light to light up the keyboard when my screen-brightness is set to 2nd lowest. The beam is narrow and may be too small for a larger keyboard or a keyboard with hard-to-see lettering. It is however, perfect for my white-on-black chiclet keys on my 10.1″ netbook.

   If you like to set your screen brighter or have a larger keyboard, you might need a stronger (and wider) light that can illuminate your keyboard.

   I have the same problem as another reviewer with my HP laptop and its metallic keyboard. It makes it difficult to see those keys in anything less than direct light.
   Enter this LED lamp.
   The light is small but does the trick. The arm/cord is flexible allowing for any angle you want, and is stiff enough that it stays in place. When you’re not using it, coil it up and it takes up very little space.
   The best feature is the price!
